Steak Sandwich

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 lb (450g) steak (sirloin, ribeye, or flank)
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 4 slices bread (sourdough, ciabatta, or baguette)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2-4 slices cheese (provolone, cheddar, or Swiss)
  • Optional: lettuce, tomato, avocado, mayo, mustard
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
  • Season steak with salt and pepper.
  • Cook steak in olive oil until desired doneness; rest and slice thinly.
  • Sauté onions and bell pepper.
  • Butter one side of each bread slice.
  • Place cheese on unbuttered side of bread.
  • Layer sliced steak and sautéed veggies.
  • Add optional toppings.
  • Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side out.
  • Grill sandwiches until golden and cheese melts.
  • Cut diagonally and serve.
